ABOUT KOLM
FFO: Tool, Karnivool, Wheel
Kolm is a progressive rock band from Los Angeles, blending immersive soundscapes, complex rhythms, and layered riffs into evolving musical journeys.
Formed in 2010 through the creative chemistry of Giorg Yela and Mikal Baker, Kolm began during early sessions with mutual friends in Giorg’s California studio. Since then, the band has continued to evolve through lineup changes and an ongoing exploration of sound and form.
Kolm is defined by intricate songwriting and immersive, evolving soundscapes. Blending progressive rock, ambient electronic, and psychedelic textures, the band combines heavy riffs, ambient layers, world instrumentation, and melodic vocals to forge a distinct sonic identity rooted in experimentation and emotional depth.
From 2012 to 2019, bassist Tas Limur contributed significantly to the band’s growth and creative development, playing a key role in the creation of Kolm’s debut album Umbra, which was self-produced, crowdfunded, and released on August 24, 2018. In 2024, bassist Ben Taylor joined the ranks, bringing fresh energy and perspective to the project’s ongoing evolution.
Guided by a wide range of creative, philosophical, and sonic influences, Kolm’s music is driven by a desire to craft immersive experiences that explore perception, emotion, and the unknown.
Kolm has performed at festivals such as Burning Man Decompression Festival and Serenity Gathering Festival, while steadily growing its fanbase through live performances and an expanding presence in the Los Angeles music scene. With a single scheduled for release in 2025, a second album in 2026, a new music video on the horizon, and live performances in the works, the coming months mark an exciting new chapter in Kolm’s evolving journey.
